Welcome to Mirror Mouthpiece

Mouthpiece is an online community, where members come to talk about the big issues in the news, and anything else that matters to you. It also gives you the chance to take part in surveys. Doing either you earn chances to be entered into cash prize draws

For those of you who used mouthpiece before it's fairly similar albeit with some new functionality and different names for forums.

Mirror Mouthpiece is run by Mirror Group Newspapers.

The Homepage explained

1. The Mouthpiece Toolbar: This is at the top of every page, and is used to navigate around the different sections of the site.
2. Latest News. A feed from the Mirror.co.uk website, keeping you up-to-date with the latest headlines. Click on it to open Mirror.co.uk in another window
3. User Profile. This allows you to tell other Mouthpiece users a bit about yourself. You can change your user name, photo and 'biog', it's updated using the 'Edit Profile' button. You can also post photos, write a blog and interact with other members (messaging and commenting on others' uploads). See below for more detail further.
4. Notifications. This box will let you know when you have been invited to take part in a survey, or other users have commented on your posts, or sent you a message.
5. Thought for the day. Tell us what you're thinking, if you like, anything from your mood to a quick thought on what's happening in the world. This will then appear in 'Mouthpiece News' and your 'User Profile'.
6. Forums. This is where the chat happens. You can either join a discussion which has been started by our moderator, Lindsay, or by posting your own topic in the "Your Shout" section. The topics are divided up into related sections:
   • Views on the news. The big news stories.
   • State of the nation. The wider issues in society, not necessarily in the paper today, but relevant to what's happening in our world.
   • Fame & fortune. Somewhere to talk about prominent figures in the papers (from the world of sports and celebrity) and entertainment.
   • Powers that be. Politicians, policies and the halls of power.
   • In your own time. Not necessarily news, but things that affect us all. From consumer rights & advertising to what we want from holidays, family pressures and brands we like.
   • General. For general opinion, any thing that don't sit happily elsewhere
   • Your shout. Your space, to start your own topics, on any subject you like.
   • Dear Editor. An opportunity for you to give some feedback to the Mirror's editor. We will sometimes ask questions about our products, but feel free to add anything!
7. Hot Topics. The topics with the most recent replies.
8. You Said. Former poll results appear here. Live polls are on every forum page.
9. Mouthpiece News. This shows recent user activity, when a new topic is posted, or when new surveys are released

Other features

Incentives. On the Mouthpiece, points really do make prizes. You will be awarded points for interacting with Mouthpiece; including voting in a poll, to replying to a topic, or completing a survey. See the other page under 'Site Info' for more details. Or Click 'points' in your profile to see how you are doing!

User Profile. Clicking on your username takes you through to your user profile, which shows your activity on the forum, as well as your blog and photos. This profile is visible to all users, although only you and the administrator can make changes. From here, you can access your blog, your photos and view your list of friends.

Blog. This is an online journal, which allows you to share your thoughts and ideas with others on the site (if they look at it). It can be about anything you like.

 

Photos. Create an album, upload photos from your computer or the internet. Anything from yourself or family, or even you where you read the Mirror!! All photos are only visible to other Mouthpiece members. Please see terms for uploading images. You may also be asked to put some photos up for various forums

 

Messages. Send messages to other Mouthpiece members, and see all of your received and sent messages.

Friends. By clicking on another user's username, you can view their profile. This gives you the option to make them a friend, send them a message, or to view their blog or photos. Making someone a friend also allows you to comment on their blog and photos.

Chat. Allows you to chat live with other users, and occasionally Lindsay, our moderator. To sign-in, and find out who else is chatting, click on the "Chat" tab on the homepage, then click on the "chat" button to begin chatting. From time to time, there will be "invite only" chat sessions, where we ask smaller groups of users for their views, these will get you 400 points.
